For those of you who don’t know (perhaps you’ve been living under a rock all year) Bread of Life meets every Thursday to go down to Alameda Park and provide some food for our friends in SB who are hungry. This week and next students are busy, we realize this, however…that doesn’t mean that our friends don’t need to eat. Come and join us:

Here’s an image I see Wes taking a picture of: a homeless man walking next to a CEO, walking next to a child, walking next to a mother, walking next to a couple students, some praying in English, some in Spanish, some in Chinese, just walking through Santa Barbara, praying for God’s Kingdom to Come with genuine desire. How’s that sound?

Spring Break in Santa Barbara 2010

We’re in the idea stages right now, looking for people to join us in leading various aspects of the ministry. Here’s a rough outline of our thoughts:

4 Teams:

1. The Village / Carrillo Apartments

2. Friends Without Homes

3. Elderly / Kid’s Team

4. Environmental / AROCHA

Anybody have ideas for these teams? Anything else you think we should focus on in our City?

We are currently in prayer and thought over SB2 and our city and would love for you to join us if you have some thoughts of your own.

This is not a ministry among other ministries.

This is not a project. This is not an initiative.

This is the discussion of an identity.

Westmont College resides in Santa Barbara, CA and therefore we are in relationship with this beautiful city and it is our mission, our very identity, as a Christian College to understand ourselves as agents of reconciliation within our city, charged with the task of bringing all things we touch into right relationship with Christ.

This blog is intended to be used as a means of communicating stories of ways in which we are doing that as well as providing information on how we can work with each other in this common Missio Dei.
